Napali Coast Snorkeling & Sailing Tour

Does your dream Kauai vacation include going snorkeling? If so, we’d like to kindly suggest you do so on our Napali Snorkel Sail tour—we’ve got all the gear, we know all the good spots, and our crew members will help you have a safe and positive experience.

We’ll get on board Leila, our 50-foot long, 28-foot wide motorized sailing catamaran. Beautiful Leila was ahead of her time when she was built in the 1990s and she’s one of the first boats that our company’s founder built here in Hawaii, so she has a very special place in our company’s heart. She’s mighty seaworthy and has been steadily upgraded and maintained throughout the years, for optimal comfort and safety.

Leila feels roomy, there are lots of places to spread about and enjoy the ride. She also has two bathrooms, plenty of dry storage, and a slide off the starboard stern step— weeeee! That’s the way to enter the water when it’s snorkeling time.

And when is it snorkeling time exactly? Well, that depends on the day. Your Captain will make an assessment given the day’s particular weather and ocean conditions and use their professional discretion in choosing which of our many snorkeling options is the best for today.

As soon as we securely tie Leila to the mooring (never in a million years anchoring and thus damaging the reef), we’ll bust out the snorkel gear—we have masks, snorkels, and fins for everyone. Flotation devices too, for anyone that wants.

Our crew members will give a quick chat about snorkeling basics and best practices and then it’s slipping down the slide and into the water where you’ll have the opportunity to see dozens of tropical fish species, Hawaiian turtles, monk seals, and more—who knows what you’ll “sea” on any given day!

Besides snorkeling on this five-hour tour, we’re having a positively grand time simply sightseeing on Kauai’s famous Napali Coast—painted in every hue of the rainbow! 4,000’ cliffs, sea arches, the “Cathedrals”, vast valleys, cascading waterfalls, untouched beaches, spinner dolphins, humpback whales (November-April), rainbows, mermaids, unicorns, etc.

Along the way, your Captain will point out interesting features and share authentic stories and legends about the sacred Napali Coast, which was once home to a thriving population of thousands of Native Hawaiians. Your captain will also be reading the wind and wave angles and if possible (which it normally is) find a good pocket and direction for us to hoist Leila’s main and jib sails, kill the motors, and travel along by the power of the wind. Leila loves to sail and her skinny hulls and low center of gravity make it possible for her to do ever so gracefully and efficiently, consistently reaching speeds of 15 knots.

Soooo– snorkeling, sightseeing, and sailing… what else does this tour offer? Breakfast, lunch, and adult beverages!

That’s right folks, there’s no going hungry or thirsty on our watch! We’ll start the morning with coffee, juice, tropical fruits, pastries, muffins, and cheesy scrambled eggs. For lunch, it’s fresh veggies and dips, make-your-own sandwiches with deli meats and cheeses, vegetarian wraps, noodle salad, and freshly baked cookies. Simple, fresh, colorful, easy-to-eat, and satisfying.

And of course, for passengers over the age of 21, we have a lovely selection of domestic beer, Hawaii craft beer, hard seltzers, and red and white wines to enjoy in the afternoon on our way back to Port Allen.
